An artist in the making....a continuous journey!
I was born in Malta and from an early age I remember showing a great passion and ability for art. My cousins were artists and a massive inspiration to me. I remember watching them create their paintings, the smell of the the turpentine still inspires me to this day and fills me with a sense of belonging. I always had a set of colours within reach so I could paint whatever came to my mind or copy some famous painting that inspired me at that time.
Although, I started life as a gold and silversmith I would always find the time to draw or paint. I always knew painting was my true calling and worked tirelessly to achieve the dream of becoming a professional artist and my true vocation.
This became reality when I immigrated to Dorset England where my work became rapidly well-known and my original work and limited edition prints were sought after by locals and visitors alike.
I love painting landscape and seascapes especially where the land meets the sea. I like to capture the light created by the combination of the elements at different times of the day and try to help the viewer appreciate the beauty around them.
I combine on the spot studies and sketches with photographs to create my painting. Having experienced the vista itself i am then able to finish it in my studio.
More recently I have developed a deep appreciation for abstracts where colour and movement are the subjects themselves. I find that I become deeply involved with the emotion of pure colour whilst creating each piece.
In July 2010 my passion for Art took me back home to Malta where I was able to realise another dream to produce and present art programs on Maltese TV. The greatest achievement is that I receive many emails from viewers telling me how much my programs inspired them to create themselves. This for me is true satisfaction!
On completion of my programs I returned to my home in England to further expand my work. I can proudly boast that my art can be found in galleries throughout the South of England and London whilst many pieces find there way to international fairs all over the world. I have a great sense of pride knowing my paintings hang on so many walls through out the world giving pleasure to the owner and viewer. Life cant get much better than that!
I believe that art touches all of our senses and can fill us with a deep sense of well being and an added appreciation for life itself. It makes it more colourful as seen through the artist's eye. I also believes that one should always look at the beauty around us twice; once to acknowledge it and then to appreciate it!
I truly hope you enjoy viewing the pages of my gallery
