Saturday 5th September....
So Ruth and I decided to go to London today... just to see a few exhibitions, visit galleries and ......... of course go to Fortnam and Mason where the Christmas decorations were already out... and was treated to a beautiful Jack Daniels by Daniel (no connection!!) on the third floor; and Hatchards the book shop, right next to it. The weather wasn't very promising to start with, but as the day went on the sun came out!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! Ruth made a few sandwiches to take with us so we didn't spend too much on food (as one can in London) though we did go to Jamie Oliver's for a coffee... surprisingly not more expensive than any other cafe really!!!! We took the scenic route via the Mall and of course had to see the lovely exhibition at the Galleries there... African Australia and Oceanic... beautiful objects.... Frasier would have loved it!!! Bought Ruthie a lovely book on paper cutting... she's now next to me reading it and getting inspirational ideas!!! All in all a beautiful relaxing and inspiring day ... we're home now tired but full of even more ideas for our next projects.... And dinner smells lovely!

Contentment...So Ruth and I have been here almost three weeks in this green and pleasant land. It has been wonderful seeing our kids and grandchildren.... interacting with them playing and being called 'Grandad' & 'Nanna'! We have already visited quite few towns and villages and connected with galleries and people regarding our work.... all well... all good.
Frustration... So why do I feel so frustrated??? I know... It's because I haven't touched a pencil or a brush in these three weeks.I know how much painting is an integral part of me, but this is like what they describe as cold turkey!!!! So yesterday we went to get some Gesso and hopefully today the watercolour paper we ordered arrives.... yeah!!!!!!!!!! Then I can resume where I left off in Malta. Ah Malta.... I miss some of it... mostly our friends and Charles Grech, where Ruth and I would sit (mostly outside in Republic street) and 'people watch' while sipping our coffees. But we will be back before long... you haven't seen the last of us Malta!!! Desire... we have come here with a plan... oh yes!!! our desire is to extend our art in as many places in the UK as possible... as i said we have already made a good start...we just have to work hard and smart... but with my Ruthie next to me, I know we shall succeed. |
